EnVyUs have defeated Heroic 2-1 (16-8 on Dust 2, 13-16 on Nuke and 16-9 on Cobble) and move on to the semi-finals in Bucharest.
Already having played over 60(!) rounds versus each other yesterday, you would think Envy were out for blood against HEROIC, and indeed we were treated to an assertive stance from the former Major champions.
First up was the French map pick in the form of Dust 2, and even though the home team lost a silly second round of the back of their T-side pistol win, they quickly took a firm grip on the hapless Danes, where Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt in particular secured bombsites consistently either with entries or clean up kills.
The self-owned Danish team brought back two more rounds before the half, where Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer stood his ground valiantly with a FAMAS from A slope, shutting down one of the numerous A-takes from Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer's squad. The Frenchmen ended the half 10-5.
Switching sides, HEROIC brought back some hope with their own pistol round as T's, but on the first gun round NBK- danced around boxes on the B-site to put Michael "Friis" Jørgensen in a 1v2 clutch which he couldn't complete. Happy generally called for forward stances on their CT-side, trading impressively across the board, and ultimately closing out 16-8.
Happy seemed completely reinvented
Moving on to Nuke, HEROIC only barely hung on to their CT-side, requiring back to back clutches from Friis to even up the the score 5-5. The Boys in Blue generally took advantage of the size of the map, to be everywhere and anywhere, and as the Danish retakes went hairy all the time, the masters of the force-buys put them on eco in the 11th round, and especially Dan "apEX" Madesclaire took charge of the frags for his team, closing out the half 9-6 on T-side.
Though Andreas "MODDII" Fridh and his men secured a crucial pistol round on their T-side, the second half went into full matchmaking territory, as force-buys upon force-buys from both sides traded the first four rounds back and forth.
Though the constant resets favors the T-side, the rounds still went incredibly close over and over again, no matter what weaponry showed up in the gunfights.
Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander was the stand-out player for HEROIC as T's, securing a crucial round which the French had no business in being in contention for, but smart play around the vent side on the lower bombsite put HEROIC in the lead, 14-12.
Another afterplant situation came down to the wire, gla1ve again coming out on top and went on to complete their comeback, ending the map 16-13.
It came down to Cobblestone, and once more Envy played their T-side first, and they wanted to prove that they lost Nuke, more than Heroic won it. Working as a unit, isolating the CT-defenses again and again, and tragically resetting the poor Danes twice of the back of the two rounds they got, they ended the half 13-2.
The CT-pistol and first gun round was lost by Timothée "DEVIL" Démolon's team, and though they took the second full-buy, they also felt the pain of being reset at once and HEROIC were beginning to smell a comeback again bringing the score back to 14-8.
Captain Happy took matters into his own hands by dismantling the Terrorists on A-long in two rounds, closing out the series and the map 16-9. The French now move on to the semi-finals, where they will meet Cloud9.
